Come taste the "Final Five" beers from our 2nd Annual Iron Brewer Competition and vote on your favorite to help us determine the winner! We'll then brew the winning beer at FDR, then release it with the winning brewer(s) at our side at the SF Beer Week Opening Gala in February 2018!
We randomly assigned secret ingredients to our field of 36 "Iron Brewers" back in October - this year, we de-constructed the Bloody Mary, so each brewer received either Cayenne Pepper, Black Peppercorns, Smoked Paprika, Horseradish, or Celery Seed, and they were then challenged to use their given ingredient in any style of beer in which they thought they could make it work.
We've narrowed down the field to the top beer using each ingredient. For only a $10 pre-purchased ticket ($15 cash at the door), you'll get to taste all five beers and vote on what you like best. The beers in the field include:
(1) Cayenne Belgian Witbier, (2) Black Peppercorn Gose, (3) Smoked Paprika Irish Stout, (4) Horseradish Saison, and a (5) Celery Seed Grodziskie (Oak-smoked Wheat Beer)
The brewers did an amazing job using these ingredients, and we're excited for people to taste these unique creations. Make your vote count and help us find a winner!
All proceeds from the sales of these competition beers will go to support the Portola Neighborhood Association (http://www.portolasf.org/), a local non-profit that funds a variety of projects in the neighborhood we call home.
